Building and strengthening communities

A strip image of Berwick researchers' work.

The Berwick Campus of Monash University is home to a young and thriving research community. Much of this research crosses the traditional boundaries of academic disciplines. The research projects undertaken at the campus vary greatly and cover many differenct aspects of communities including tourism, virtual communities, Australian history, viable democracies, volunteerism, regional development, community engagement and social inclusion.

The campus hosts the Tourism Research Unit (TRU) and the Animation and Visualisation Research Group (AVRG) and many other active research teams and individual researchers.

The research projects outlined here involve staff and higher degree by research students based at the Berwick Campus. The projects often involve engagement and collaboration with external stakeholders and partners. The issues addressed are becoing increasingly important to the social and political agendas of modern societies, and the Berwick campus is well-placed to deliver high-quality reserach work that is of national benefit to Australia and other countries.
