Animation and Visualisation Research Group (AVRG)Palaeo Marine Environments of the Chatham IslandsBerwick School of IT/ Monash School of Geosciences
This project examines a time interval when major climate change is known to have occurred in the Late Cretaceous. The aim is to document what life existed in this remote part of the SW Pacific, and to deduce palaeoclimate and palaeoenvironments, as reflected in both in the fossils and the sediments. 3-D reconstructions and animations have been generated from these fossil and rock data to bring these long extinct ecosystems and biotas new to science back to life in a realistic way.
